Mid-to-Late 19th Century Napoleon III French Rococo Revival Giltwood Pier Mirror
$4,500.00
Crafted during the mid-to-late 19th century, this grand French Rococo Revival pier mirror features an elaborate openwork crest pediment with pierced acanthus leaf and floral scrollwork. The frame is built with sectioned marginal border glass panels (glaces à parecloses) surrounding a large central plate, highlighted by detailed egg-and-dart borders and corner relief accents. The wood frame retains its original gesso ground and gilded finish. Showing age-appropriate wear, the frame exhibits fine stress cracking (craquelure), light gilding loss, and minor gesso chips along the outer edges and relief molding tips, revealing the white gesso base underneath.
